The Department of Biotechnology, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, in association with the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI), organized a Two-Day Lecture Series on “Emerging Careers and Innovations in Biotechnology: Industry Perspectives” on 13th and 14th March 2026 for 4th and 6th semester students (114 participants).
The program featured expert sessions by Dr. Seshadri Ramaswamy, Head of Biologics, Eurofins Advinus Biopharma Pvt. Ltd.; Dr. Rekha Menon, Principal Scientist, National Dairy Research Institute; Dr. Vijay Danapur, Director, Vriksha Vignan Pvt. Ltd.; and Mr. Ranjan S Munchoor, Chairman & Managing Director, Munchoor Group. The lecture series provided valuable insights into industry expectations, emerging trends, and career opportunities in biotechnology, while strengthening the link between academic learning and real-world applications, thereby enhancing students’ technical knowledge and professional preparedness

A technical talk on “In silico Technologies for Drug Design used in Modern Pharma” was delivered to 6th semester biotechnology students by Dr. Shivananda Kandagalla, Research Investigator, thinkMolecular Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru. The session highlighted the role of computational tools such as molecular docking, virtual screening, and molecular dynamics in modern drug discovery. Dr. Kandagalla also discussed the importance of bioinformatics and emerging technologies in accelerating drug development and shared insights on career opportunities in computational drug design.

Innovative Applications of LC-MS/MS: Exploring Principles and Advancements
The invited talk by Dr. Prasanna Vasu, Principal Scientist at CFTRI, Mysore, discussed the cutting-edge instrument, Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry. The presentation covered principles, types, and applications in various fields, including pharmaceuticals, clinical diagnostics, environmental analysis, proteomics, metabolomics, food safety, and forensic science. Additionally, Dr. Vasu provided information on career opportunities in the field of mass spectrometry specialization to students in the 3rd, 4th, and 7th semesters.
