HIGHLIGHTS

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) is one of the major and principal department of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering since its inception in 1979. The EEE department started with an intake of 50 students in the year 1979 under Bangalore University and later the intake has been increased to 120 in the year 2006 under Visvesvaraya Technological University. During the same year i.e. 2006, M.Tech program in Power Electronics was started to cater the needs of power electronic industry. In last three decades the department has transformed in terms of expertise, infrastructure and capacity.

The Department is well respected, recognized and was accredited twice by AICTE, NBA-New Delhi. The department is permanently affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). The Department offers comprehensive programs, four years of undergraduate course (B.E.) , two years of Post Graduate (M.Tech-Power Electronics) course and Research / Doctoral Program i.e. PhD/M.Sc (Engg.) by research.

  • Mr.A.M.Nagaraj of E&EE department has participated in a 5 days FDP from 8th-12 June,2020, titled’ Recent Innovations and Technologies in Electric Vehicles’, conducted by GATES Institute of Technology, Gooty, Anantapuramu, Andhra Pradesh.

    He has also participated in FDP conducted by Satyabhama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai from 22to 27 th June. The title of the FDP is ‘Integration of Green energy with Smart Power Systems’.

    Mr. A.M.Nagaraj has all participated in 10 days International on line workshop-Effective research methodology’ conducted by Tamil Nadu Open University from 3rd June to 10th June,2020. He has also participated in online FDP ,titled’On line-Teaching learning Processes using ICT tools for Education 4.0’, conducted by St.VincentPallotti College of Engineering and Technology, Nagpur. This was from 8th to 13th June,2020.

    Mr.A.M.Nagaraj of E&EE department has participated in on line FDP on Research Scope in Electrical Engineering, organized by St.Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai ,from 22nd June to 26th June 2020.

  • Mrs.Tanuja H has participated in 4 days FDP-“Real time simulation and its application in Power System and Power Electronics” Conducted by SRM Institute of Science and Technology, conducted from 10-13th June 2020.
  • Mrs.Vidya.M of E&EE department has participated in a 5 days FDP from 8th-12th June,2020, titled’ Recent Innovations and Technologies in Electric Vehicles’, conducted by GATES Institute of Technology, Gooty, Anantapuramu, Andhra Pradesh.

  • Dr. Harsha A of E&EE department has successfully completed an on line course on 16-6-2020 , titled’ Introduction to Solar cells’ offered by coursera.Course is conducted by ‘Technical University of Denmark (DTU)’

She has also completed 4 week online NPTEL course, titled ’Electric Vehicles Part-1’.

  • Mrs.Tanuja H of E&EE department has participated in a webinar titled ’Multi-Disciplinary Approach for Electric Vehicle’, conducted by Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, Mysore on 15-6-2020.
  • Mrs.Rachana M has participated in a webinar conducted by New Horizon College of Engineering, heldon 18-6-2020. The title of the webinar is ‘Industrial Automation and SCADA’.

Mrs. Vidya. M, Assistant Professor, has participated in Webinar on "Solar Energy Opportunities & Management" jointly organized by Department of Mechanical Engineering & Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bangalore, on 28th May 2020.

FDP on “ MODERN RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGY”

Mrs.Vidya M, Assistant Professor has participated in a Three Day Faculty Development Program on “ MODERN RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGY” dated 27th to 29th May 2020 organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering , SIR M Visvesvaraya Institute Of Technology, Bangalore-562157 .

Online Courses Taken By Faculty Member

Mr. Nandan N, Assistant Professor , completed 8 hours online course on ‘ Data Science, Machine Leaning Data Analysis, Python & R’ in UDEMY on May 12, 2020. This course has been designed by two professional Data Scientists to make participants understand complex theory, algorithms and coding libraries in a simple way.

Mr. Nandan N, has also completed 3.5 hours online course on ‘Electrical Engineering Simulations with ETAP’ in UDEMY on May 15, 2020. ETAP is the most powerful software in the area of Electrical Power systems. ETAP offers a suite of fully integrated electrical engineering software solutions which includes arc flash, load flow, short circuit, transient stability, relay coordination, cable ampacity, optimal power flow, and more.

Ms. Supriya J, Assistant Professor, completed 4 hours online course on ‘Designing of Power Electronic Converters in MATLAB/Simulink’ in UDEMY on May 18, 2020. This course is about designing various power electronic converters and inverters in Simulink.

Mr. Ganesha G C, Assistant Professor, has participated in Two-Day Webinar Series on “Challenges in Micro-grid Protection”, Organized by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation, Vaddeswaram, Guntur, A.P, on 6th and 7th May, 2020.

Mr. Ganesha G C and Mr. Nandan N have participated in the two hours webinar on "Decoding Examination During and Post COVID" hosted by Skillslate and Zovy on 8th May 2020.

Mrs.Sumana S, Assistant Professor, participated in webinar conducted on 16th May 2020 by Department of Electrical and Electronics, S. G. Balekundri Institute of Technology, Belagavi , on topic ‘Wind Systems and EMC” . This Webinar is supported by IEEE and given by Aravind Devaraj, EMI/EMC Protection Engineer, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.

 

Mr. Nagaraj A M, Assistant Professor, has participated in online one day workshop on “Electromagnetic and Thermal Simulation of PMSM (IPM) motor”, organized by Altair ANZ ASEAN India on May 7th, 2020.

Mrs. Sumana S, Assistant professor, participated in ‘National Faculty Development Webinar Programme’ on “Micro-Controller Based Embedded System Design” organized by Dumka Engineering College of Jharkhand. It’s a TEQIP Phase III sponsored five days FDP conducted through video conferencing on Zoom app from 4th May to 8th May, 2020.

Mrs. Deekshitha A, and Mrs. Shrithi A , have participated in a one week Faculty Development Program on ‘Research Opportunities in Electrical Engineering and its Applications” organized by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of P. S.R.Engineering college Sivakasi from 18th May to 23rd May, 2020.

News Paper Article Design of face Shield by E&EE student

Aayush B, final year student of E&EE department, was among the youngsters group who have designed the face shield for doctors and health care professionals to protect them from catching any infection while treating Covid -19 patients.

An article was published in ‘Hindu’ paper on 26-5-2020.
